Lights, cameras, iPhones and Tecnos out. The people cheer and shout. All eyes on stage.

The artist marches out proudly. Sometime back he or she was the shy person in the studio who sang with hope. He or she performed in the camera frame and waited. 

The tune became a smash hit. A sensation. 2024..

In 2024, Uganda's music scene witnessed the emergence of several artists who transitioned from relative obscurity to national prominence. Here are five standout acts whose talent and dedication illuminated the industry:

 

5. Ava Peace


 

Ava Peace captivated audiences with her melodious voice and dynamic collaborations. Her track "Muziki," featuring Fik Gaza, gained significant traction, spending nine weeks on the Weekly Top 40 Chart and peaking at No. 25.  Additionally, "Batuleke," a collaboration with Vinka and Winnie Nwagi, became a fan favorite, showcasing her versatility and appeal. 

 

4. Gloria Bugie


 

Gloria Bugie made a remarkable impact with her single "Nyash," released in 2024.  The song's infectious rhythm and relatable lyrics resonated with many, solidifying her status as a rising star in Uganda's music industry.

 

3. Nandor Love


 

Nandor Love emerged as a formidable talent in the dancehall genre. Her collaboration with Jowy Landa on the track "Byadala" showcased her unique style and contributed to her growing popularity among Ugandan music enthusiasts.

 

2. Kapeke


 

Kapeke's energetic performances and catchy tunes earned him a dedicated following. His remix of "Shuu," featuring Fik Fameica, spent four weeks on the Weekly Top 40 Chart, peaking at No. 22.  This achievement highlighted his potential to become a mainstay in the Ugandan music scene.

 

1. Stream of Life Choir


 

 

The Stream of Life Choir brought a refreshing sound to the gospel music landscape. Their song "Lukusuuta" spent 11 weeks on the Weekly Top 40 Chart, peaking at No. 9, and was played by 117 stations across two countries.  Their harmonious vocals and uplifting messages resonated with a wide audience, earning them a well-deserved spotlight in 2024.
