Mysterious Death of Uganda Technical College Student Sparks Investigation

The photo of Kawesi

The town of Bushenyi in Western Uganda is in mourning after a Uganda Technical College-Kahaya student was found dead. Vincent Kawesi, just 25 years old, was discovered on the side of the Bushenyi-Mbarara highway. People living in Kahaya Village found his body Wednesday, March 19th, and the news has hit the community hard.

Right now, it's not clear what happened to Kawesi. What we know is that he left the college for an evening out on March 18th. He never made it back. His body was found the next day around 7:30 in the evening. It's a real tragedy. He had a life ahead of him.

Police are treating Kawesi's death as a possible murder. Detectives are trying to figure out the circumstances. They are gathering evidence and talking to possible witnesses who might have seen something. Mr. Marcial Tumusiime, who speaks for the police in the Bushenyi area, said that Kawesi's body was sent to Kampala International Teaching Hospital for an autopsy. That should provide some answers about how he died.

Adding to the confusion is a statement from Uganda Technical College Bushenyi. Apparently, Kawesi was going to classes even though he wasn't properly registered. He had been accepted into the National Diploma in Water Engineering program. For some reason, he never officially enrolled. The college claims he was using their buildings and resources without permission. This detail raises even more questions about the case. So why exactly wasn't Kawesi registered and what might have been the reason for that? This could be a significant piece of the puzzle.

The College has been around since 1956 and provides a lot of vocational and technical courses. It's a long-standing institution in the area. The community is struggling to deal with the sudden loss of a young man who, no matter the situation with his enrollment, was part of their town. It's hard to believe someone we knew is just not here anymore.

To make things worse, Kawesi's death comes at a time when Uganda is seeing a rise in killings. Recent crime stats show that homicides went up by almost 2%, with over 4,300 cases reported last year. It's a worrying trend, and this case just adds to people's fears. Hopefully, the police can solve this and catch the killers.
