A 15-year-old named Mathias Bakaki died after a fight about sugarcane in Kamuli District. Police have arrested the suspect, Jonan Balisanyuka.

According to the report, the incident happened around 5 PM on March 19, 2025. Bakaki, who went to Five Star Nursery and Primary School Luzinga, was walking home with friends when they found some sugarcane being guarded by Balisanyuka.

The kids supposedly tried to grab some sugarcane, and Balisanyuka chased them off but Bakaki stood his ground, and things got out of hand. Reports say Balisanyuka hit Bakaki, and he passed out.

People took Bakaki to a clinic, but he was already dead. The police showed up and arrested Balisanyuka. The people in the area are angry at what happened and demand justice.

Police spokesman Michael Kasadha said they're still investigating to find out exactly what happened. The police are asking people to settle arguments without violence.
